Pink Pineapples!

Pink Glow is a cultivar of pineapple exclusively produced by Del Monte. These pink beauties get their signature color from lycopene, the same carotenoid antioxidant that gives red tomato, pink grapefruit and watermelon their color.

Flavor wise, Pink Glow pineapples tend to be less acidic, providing a juicy and ultra-sweet flavor profile.

Lycopene has numerous health benefits. It has been extensively studied for more than 70 years, with more than 2000 articles published in peer-reviewed journals. This antioxidant can show up in a rainbow of colors ranging from red, orange, to pink. The shade depends on the isomer (aka how the atoms or lycopene are arranged).

Lycopene’s health benefits are largely attributed to its ability to scavenge damage in cells from oxidative stress. It is thought to be protective against prostate cancer, improve heart health, and even help minimize damage caused by sunburn!
